I met Rich when he picked up our dogs in DC and he had everything ready to go! He rented a nice minivan and even had the seats down and a sheet laid out for them. We could decided if we wanted them to travel in their crates or without and we chose without as our dogs our used to that. He was very good with our two dogs and put everyone at ease. He sent pictures along the way with updates. He even gave us real time google tracker so that we could follow along with his progress.

“In April of 2020 we adopted a Doberman Pincher puppy from a breeder in California. We live in Maryland and work constraints prohibited us from going to California ourselves to bring home our new puppy. Accordingly, we engaged Rich Hunt to transport our Doberman Pincher puppy to us. Rich was set to fly to California, meet with the breeder, inspect the puppy on our behalf, obtain her documents and bring her home to us. Of course, Coronavirus added additional layers of complication to the process. Once Rich got to California, we discovered that no commercial airlines would allow our puppy to fly in the cargo area of the plane. Further, each of the commercial airlines had weight restrictions that precluded the puppy from flying in the main cabin under the seat. Even still, and with a waiver, because California does not permit rabies vaccines until age 14 weeks (our puppy was 12 weeks at the time), no airlines would allow her to fly. Needless to say, we were extremely frustrated and felt helpless from across the country. We were concerned about our puppy and we felt terrible that we had engaged Rich to travel across the country only to not be permitted to transport our puppy to us. Furthermore, what was supposed to be a quick round-trip engagement for Rich was delayed, forcing Rich to spend several days in a hotel while we all tried to identify a solution to bring our puppy home. Despite the challenges, Rich was so patient and understanding. He didn’t seem rattled or phased by the snafu. He stayed in constant contact and we felt like he was equally invested in identifying a solution, acting as an advocate for us — and for our puppy—and we rested assured that our puppy was in kind, patient hands with Rich, who we could tell was caring for her as well as (if not better than) we would ourselves. He sent us videos, photos and even “facetimed” with us so we could see and “meet” our new puppy who we were desperate to bring home. Ultimately, we found a transportation solution and when we did, Rich quickly pivoted to the alternative means of transportation. Working with Rich was easy. We immediately knew that we could trust him and that our puppy was in safe, capable, caring hands. We were (and are) so grateful for Rich’s patience, his flexibility and his advocacy for our puppy. I would absolutely engage Rich again (hopefully with less stressful extenuating circumstances). In fact, we keep in touch with Rick, updating him on our puppy and he updates us about his travels around the country!”

From the very first contact, Rich was incredibly organized and professional. He provides you with a link to follow his progress if you want, and sends pics of your dog along the way. The best part is that he is truly a “dog” person, and Zoey took to him immediately! “I would give Rich 100 stars if I could! Along with my dog training business I also do a lot of rescue work. I regularly pull dogs from high kill shelters and and needed to get a dog transported up to me in NY, from Kentucky. I was batting zero in trying to find an option that I felt comfortable with. I stumbled on Rich through a search on my computer. Little did I know how lucky I was or how well cared for and loved the dog would be during transport. It was December 2017 and weather was miserable. Rich flew to Kentucky, picked up the dog, and proceeded to drive him to me in New York. From the beginning I felt at ease and and just new what a special man Rich was...honest, trustworthy, caring, etc etc. “Gonzo” got to my home happy and relaxed. Rich shared photos of the entire trip, and even let Gonzo sleep in the hotel room bed. I could tell from the photographs that “Gonzo” felt safe with Rich. I even have a pic of him kissing Rich’s face when they first met.. He took the time to e-mail me regularly during the trip. Most importantly of all is that he gave Gonzo lots of love, which of course made all the difference in the world. I could not recommend Rich any more highly. He is definitely the VERY BEST! ”

From the beginning we quickly got the impression and understood that he is very engaged, focused, professional, trustworthy and caring. Our babies got home happy and relaxed. He shared the location and photos of the entire trip and we felt comfortable and assured that they were relaxed, fine and even having fun. We could tell from the photographs that our babies felt safe with him. He took care to get the best car and the best lodging with our input and consent. “Five stars — I’d give Rich five stars. He transported our dog and car from South Carolina to New Hampshire. The weather was lousy, the drive tedious, and the traffic tangled. With calm good nature, Rich frequently updated us on progress and sent pictures of our very contented dog. Thoughtful, professional, experienced he delivered the car in good condition, and the dog convinced she had a new best friend. We plan to engage Rich annually to schlep both car and dog. “Leaving Connecticut was not going to be an easy job. My beautiful and extra large four Great Danes needed sensitive and comfortable care for the long trip to North Carolina. I chose Rich because of his knowledge of dogs, and his ability to understand the comfort my hounds would need on such a long trip like extra padding under their crates. Also I didn’t want some ‘fugazy’ service bidding my pets out to just anyone. Rich answered everyone of my calls, and answered everyone of my concerns. I followed the hounds on their journey through Rich’s Google mapping and my adorable and sensitive hounds were safely brought to a kennel in NC while I relocated. “I am the fortunate person who employed Rich to drive me and my 70 lb. greyhound from Connecticut to South Carolina. This was a 14 hour trip, which we hoped to accomplish in one day. Besides this lengthy drive, Rich had to contend with a very unhappy dog who was not used to long trips, and the dog’s mother (me) who was distressed. With all of the problems a 14 hour drive can entail, it seemed like we reached SC in 2 or 3 hours. Rich was a great conversationalist and always kind and considerate with Sophie, my greyhound. I’ll sum this up by saying that Rich will be driving us back home in just a few months. I consider myself lucky to have had Rich recommended to me.

Over the last several months I’ve hired him twice ... including driving my vehicle from New England to Florida, and I was able to optimize on the transportation of items difficult to ship including large paintings, fragile antiques, and plants.
